I got my start in film making through composing music for short films at UC Santa Cruz. From there I started picking up more jobs in the film production process such as an on set boom operator, sound mixer, costume and prop designer, editor, and producer. I spent the last couple years of university as a producer and treasurer for UCSC's Film Production Coalition org.Â
Film Production Work
This is a live video that my band shot for the Santa Cruz Recording Studio's 2024 Battle of the Bands. I edited the footage from our videographer in Adobe Premiere and colored it in Davinci Resolve.
Camp Haven was the first film I worked on in college. For this apocalyptic thriller I was the costume, props, and makeup person as well as the music composer. My onset role had me working with fake blood, stick forts, and tattered clothes while my post production job had me playing acoustic guitar and sampling.
This was a spoof of Scooby Doo that followed a group of college students on a mystery to uncover secrets within their university. For this film I was the music composer, costume designer, and I animated the little theme song sequence at the end of the film(which is right below). I'm still very happy with my work in this film, I think my sense of design and jazz influenced score fit the tone perfectly.
This is an animated theme song sequence that I made for a spoof of Scooby Doo that I was working on. I was playing a lot of Persona 5 at the time so I incorporated of lot of the style from that game into the animation. I animated the scenes in After Effects, composed the music in Logic and put everything together in Premiere.
Down the Rabbit Hole was the first film I worked on in a full production role as a co-producer. It was an incredible experience being present for the whole production pipeline from pre-production all the way to finish. It taught me a lot about scheduling and a ton of different roles that I normally wouldn't have gone for.
Totally Amped Up was sort of my magnum opus as far as college short films go. I set out to produce a musical comedy inspired by School of Rock and Spinal Tap and I'm so happy with how it came out. In addition to producing I also composed the music and sound mixed the film. This was a great film to start my senior year of college off with.
I was the head of Audio for this project and thus I did all of the sound design, music composition, and sound mixing during post production. The workflow from this film got me super familiar with premiere's parametric eq and denoise tools.
For this project I was tasked with writing, recording, and editing a short video essay to talk about a video game's M.D.A.(Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics) framework and how they work in tandem to elevate the playing experience. For this I discussed the gameplay loop from the game Hotline Miami(2012) and used Premiere to edit together gameplay footage.
